At first, Tujyun Bridge is one of the familiar bridges in Kumamoto prefecture.

Tujyun Bridge is located  at Yabe in Yamato City over Midori River.
(the place is called Kamimashiki gun Yamato Machi)

This is the biggest bridge made of stones for the irrigation purpose: to lead the water from Sasahara river to Shiraito terrace.

Yasunosuke Futa plans to build this bridge and the masons Jyouhachi, Usuke and Uichi, who have built Reitai Bridge, cooperated to built.

This bridge is registered as a nationsl treasure in 35 in Showa era(1960).

It's length is 79.64 meter

the width of bridge is 6.6 meter

the hight of bridge is 21.43 meter

HISTORY

Shiraito terrace, which was located in the deep canyon, is consisted of Nagano, Obara, Tayoshi, Inukai, Shinfuji and three villages.

This village mainly works on the farming and had 44TYOUBO(99.17are = 9917square meter per TYOUBO)

There were many rivers, Gorougataki river, Sentaki river and Sasakawa river around this terrace but it was difficult to cultivate because of the lack of water.

It was Yasunosuke Futa who was thinking of irrigating and fertilizing the field.

He hit on the idea to lead the water by way of the stone pipe.

He participated in the projecting, designing, finding resources and Scheduling the plan while the architechtures were building the bridge.

Spending the whole year and eight months, they finished building.

Thanks to this bridge, Shiraito terrace revived with plenty of water.
