List of facts about Kumamoto
Kumamoto city is the capital of Kumamoto Prefecture. The population is 670,000. It is becoming the central city of Kyushu. location: Kumamoto is located on the southernmost island of the Japanese archipelago (Kyushu), and is the 2nd largest city after Fukuoka. It is about 7,401 sq.km. and is at the same latitude as Casablanca and Dallas. The name of Kumamoto used to be called "Hi no Kuni" which means the land of the fire, sun and fertility. The prefectural flower of Kumamoto is Gentian and the prefectural bird is Skylark. Kumamoto is a city full of natural resources and historic heritage. There are much green throughout the year. The main events during the year are Ushibuka Haiya and Hi-no-kuni festival.

My Kumamoto
